my hero: production
We've never had so much fun filming, nor been so frustrated by technical glitches than during the shooting of My Hero. This film, despite its warts, was very well received. The laughter from the audience—even when not composed of friends (ha, ha)—was always consistent at each screening.
The film was shot with two cameras: the Panasonic GS400 and the Canon GL2, both in Frame mode. The Panasonic tended to give a warmer hue, so we turned down the color and the saturation to more evenly match the cooler color of the GL2.
The only nightmarish part of the shoot came at the end, when nothing on a technical level worked right. Missing laptops, blue screens, faulty renders, inoperable firewire ports—the Gods cursed us for some reason.
