Other projects

No filmmaker should be above working on another person's movie (unless, of course, that other person is an ass). You can learn a great deal just from being on someone else's set. Also, being a worker bee and having a specific job task can be a refreshing change of pace after trying to juggle a film production all by yourself.

This section lists some—but not all—of the projects that Crowfeather Films was a part of in some capacity.

the meanest city in america (2006)

This is the tentative title for a homeless documentary Jon Crawford filmed in Little Rock in 2005. Robert was the co-director and camera operator. Jon is the producer, and he's currently editing the footage for a 2006 release.

Lazarus of little rock (2005)

Robert was the assistant camera for this short flm. His job was to make sure that all the camera-related equipment (camera, lenses, monitor, tripod, batteries, etc.) were prepped, readied, and moved between takes. Like any low-budget production, he also did whatever else was asked.

He had a minor cameo as a jealous husband (pictured above, the surly guy in the tie).

The film was shot on a Panasonic DVX100a, with a wide angle lens. Most of the scenes were night exteriors, which required long hours of setup, using a truck full of professional lightning gear. (Our lowly makeshift studio lights felt lacking by comparison.)

Working on the Lazarus set was exhilirating. The whole crew was made up of top notch professionals, with experience in commercials, film, and nationally broadcast TV shows.

deja vu, descending (2002)

In 2002, as a part of a project for Rewind Video, Vasan wrote a quick, one-page script based on a simple phrase. Another microcinema production company—in this case, Bravado Entertainment, filmed the short.

The filmed version is different from the script, which you can download in text format by clicking here: Deja Vu, Descending. You can watch the filmed version by visiting Bravado Entertainment.
